Samsung confirms Galaxy S7 Edge and reveals new features curved screen

Samsung confirms the name of its new flagship smartphone with curved screen – Galaxy S7 Edge. Also South Korean company revealed some of the new features that smartphone will have.

Rumors had mentioned that Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge will be presented with Galaxy S7, but company had not confirmed official. Today Samsung posted on its website a name of smartphone and new features for its curved screen.

The big news is that Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge willa have new larger side panel, which will be located on the curved screen, as a pop-up panel (which will land on the remaining contents of the screen).

Since Samsung announced Galaxy S6 Edge, company added series of functions called Edge, which have included in a small side panel information Twitter, Yahoo and other sources. This type of panel would remain in Galaxy S7 under the name Single Edge. In addition, new smartphone will be equipped with wider new panel called Single Edge Plus.

The new panel Single Edge Plus will show more content than simple panels we already knew.

In general, the new panel seems to be three or four times larger than the last one, and can display markers parties, share price of your favorite companies, parameters of smartphone (storage, RAM, battery) and compass.

The website reveals that these functions would also be coming to Samsung Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge+. South Korean manufacturer already allows developers to download SDK 1.3.0 to start developing their own functions for new panel, despite the fact that Galaxy S7 Edge will be presented in three weeks.

Samsung sent out invitations to the event Samsung Unpacked Galaxy, which will be held on February 21 in Barcelona. Besides, Samsung will be the first company organized during Mobile World Congress (MWC 2016).
