Introduced at IFA last year Huawei Ascend G7 did not become incredibly popular device. And the main reasons for this were two – not the most balanced performance and relatively high (compared to the “classmates”) value. The new Huawei G8 conducted work on the bugs, and in terms of features, this smartphone looks interesting predecessor.

But let’s start with design. All major decisions are still the same – two plastic inserts on the “back” for wiring of antennas, the overall shape of the body, the location of most of the elements, and even dimensions.

Despite that similarity, the reality of the new Huawei G8 nice and tidy than the G7. Probably, by the color of the body, the solution to the glass, it is slightly curved at the edges, as it is now fashionable to describe this technology, 2.5D and small parts.

Generally, in terms of appearance and materials, Huawei G8 interesting – through a combination of metal and glass, not the easiest (not brick) form of the hull and the protective glass to said effect.

Now, briefly about the characteristics. The new smartphone was a screen with a higher resolution (1920×1080 vs. 1280×720 in Ascend G7) while maintaining a diagonal 5.5 ”. Clear progress. The screen quality, as measured by the test sample is not at the level of champions – a bit lacking in richness, viewing angles are good, but not the maximum. The screen is not a bad thing, but I will say this, for it shows that the smart phone is not top-end and, accordingly, set the display clearly not of the latest generation and most expensive variation IPS-matrix.

The platform is also updated – Snapdragon 615 against 410 in last year’s model. RAM – 3 GB (at G7 was 2 GB) and 32 GB of internal memory. Slot for microSD card is combined with a second slot for SIM-card. The device supports LTE Cat 4 and the entire set of frequency bands and distributed in Russia.

Cameras remain unchanged, the same 13, and 5 megapixel modules. The quality of images even at Ascend G7 was quite good for this class of smart phones, so if it is just in the G8 will remain roughly at this level is not bad. We are talking about the middle segment, where the quality of the camera – an important but not the main characteristic of the selection.

The main difference between the new Huawei G8 by Ascend G7 – the presence of a fingerprint scanner on the back of the machine. In the previous model of the element were not. How justified and useful will be able to unlock the smartphone fingerprints, as well as how it will be in demand – questions remain unanswered. In my opinion, this element of interest in high-end smartphones, where there is a “full ground meat,” and the cost will certainly be higher. But equipped with a scanner apparatus of the middle segment – a controversial decision. Yes, it will attract more attention to the device and select it from the competition, but it also increases the cost. With that, and the Huawei Ascend G7 was not cheap for its category, it is better equipped technically G8, is likely to be even more expensive, even with the growth rate and general price correction in the market.

Like other new devices from Huawei, Huawei G8 runs on Android 5.1 with a proprietary shell EMUI. The organization of the working space is made in the style of iOS, without the program menu when the labels of all applications are sent directly to one of the screens. In general, EMUI can be compared with the shells of other Chinese producers, there are some features, but the general gist is the same. For EMUI offers many themes and basic Android interface and even some of his pieces are “cut off” and replace their own decisions. Someone like this approach, someone – no.

Conclusion Huawei G8

With a price tag of smartphone, to be honest, cannot compete even with the seemingly his “classmates” and other Chinese devices, not to mention the models from Asus and Acer, is closely associated for some users with low-cost smartphones.

Yes, the new Huawei G8 has become better in almost everything, from design and attention to detail to the specifications, and the smartphone appeared fingerprint scanner.
