ASUS, one of the largest manufacturers of graphics cards, introduced GeForce GTX 980 Ti Strix with cooler DirectCU III, soon to appear on the market. The card will be the flagship for ASUS GPU GeForce GTX 980 Ti and cooling performance.

Video Card ASUS GeForce GTX 980 Ti Strix will operate in two modes: Gaming and OC. In the Gaming graphics card provides Boost frequency of not less than 1.291 MHz. OC mode it will be increased at least up to 1.317 MHz. However, it will be interesting to look at the frequency that card show in practice. The power system is based on 12 + 2 phase – at the reference design GeForce GTX 980 Ti we get 8 + 2 phase. We get a large graphics card with an original design ASUS, it emphasizes the use of high quality components. The card should work in extreme conditions, strong power subsystem to handle the load. Moreover, the efficiency of ASUS points higher than the reference card. ASUS combines these functions under the marketing name “Super Alloy Power II”, the vibration of the individual components will be reduced.

In order to cool ASUS based on the new cooler DirectCU III. As you might guess from the name, a few heatpipe cooler come in direct contact with the chip GPU. In the case of GeForce GTX 980 Ti Strix uses two heat pipes with a diameter of 10 mm. They convey the liberated heat from the GPU to the large aluminum radiator, which dissipates heat into the air – it is blown by three axial fans with a diameter of 90 mm. ASUS announces decrease in temperature as compared to the reference card by 30 percent. The new design of the impeller fan provides increased airflow blown. Moreover, the noise level should be reduced. At idle, the fans are switched off. The exact threshold trip ASUS has not indicated. On the cooler can be seen illuminated logo “Strix”, which lights up in different colors, including animation. There is also a back plate.

ASUS-designed and acceleration. We have already talked about the optimized power subsystem. Extra power is supplied to the graphics card via two 8-pin connectors, theoretically it can consume up to 375 watts of power – at least according to the specifications PCI Express. 4-pin Molex behind the video, most likely intended for heating the memory chips so that they are not using supercooled liquid nitrogen. On the printed circuit board can be seen in terms of direct measurement of the voltage GPU, memory and interface PCI Express. Nearby is a toggle switch BIOS, allowing you to select between modes Gaming and OC.

GeForce GTX 980 Ti Strix – the first graphics card ASUS, based on the so-called procedure of “Auto Extreme Technology”. Components on a printed circuit board mounted fully automatically, any manual processes are absent. This approach eliminates the need for large soldering points, no more and cutouts for the components. As a result of the manufacturer there are more opportunities to optimize the design, including the back plate has become easier.

ASUS GeForce GTX 980 Ti Strix will go on sale in July. At the moment, the video card can be pre-ordered in Europe for from 755 euros .
